AI Receptionist (Nysroc Phone)
Coming soon: the AI Receptionist needs Nysroc Phone, which is not switched on yet. When it launches: The AI Receptionist answers a Nysroc Phone number for you: always, outside business hours, or when nobody picks up. It answers questions from your business information, transfers to your saved extensions, ring groups or numbers, and takes messages. Callers always hear that they are talking to an AI. Emergency calls never go to the AI.
Go to: Open AI Receptionist settings (https://your-business.nysroc.com/phone/ai-receptionist)
Go to: Open your workspace (Settings → AI) (https://your-business.nysroc.com/app)
> Coming soon. The AI Receptionist needs Nysroc Phone, which is not switched on yet.
Turn it on
- Open Phone > AI Receptionist (the account owner or an admin). Pick the number.
- Choose when the AI answers: Always, Outside business hours, When nobody answers (after the number of rings you choose), When everyone is busy, or both.
- Enter your business name, your business hours and closed dates, the main language (English or French) and whether to offer the other language.
- Add what the AI can answer: type your questions and answers (hours, address, services, prices you want to share), or pick your Help Center articles or a folder in Nysroc Files.
- Add transfer destinations: an extension, a ring group or an outside number, each with a name the AI uses ("Front desk", "Sales"). Choose "Ask the person first" if the person answering should press 1 to accept the call.
- Choose where messages go: a Help Desk ticket or an email. Then press Save.
What callers hear
- First, before the AI speaks: "You're speaking with an AI assistant, not a person", whether the call is recorded or only transcribed, and the offer of the other language. When recording is on, callers can press 2 to continue without a recording.
- If your Nysroc AI provider is the managed provider (DeepSeek, processed in China), callers also hear that the AI service may process the conversation outside Canada. Speech itself (listening and the voice) is always processed on Nysroc servers in Canada.
- Callers can ask for a person at any time; the AI transfers to a destination you saved, or takes a message.
Safety rules you can't turn off
- Emergency calls (9-1-1, 988 and other emergency numbers) never go to the AI, and the AI never transfers anyone to them. A caller who describes an emergency is told to hang up and dial 9-1-1.
- After someone in your business dials 9-1-1, incoming calls ring your people (not the AI) for one hour, so a 9-1-1 call-back reaches a person.
- The AI only transfers to destinations you saved. It never dials a number a caller tells it to.
- The AI never takes card numbers, banking details, Social Insurance Numbers or health information by phone. Transcripts are stored with personal details removed.
- The AI Receptionist only answers calls. It never makes calls.
Turning it off
- Phone > AI Receptionist > "Turn the AI Receptionist off for every number now" stops it immediately: calls ring as they did before.
- If the AI is ever unavailable, your calls automatically ring your normal ring group, extension or voicemail.
Who can use it
- The AI Receptionist becomes available when Nysroc Phone lines go live; until then the settings page is not in your workspace menu.
- Proposed for the Plus and Advanced plans with Nysroc Phone (plans are being finalized). Health-care businesses can't use it yet because Nysroc doesn't handle health information at launch.
- It uses your Nysroc AI choice (Settings > AI). If your workspace is Canada-only, the AI Receptionist needs a Canadian AI provider (Nysroc Private AI or your own key); it never uses DeepSeek.
