Bring your existing phone number
Coming soon: number transfers open when Nysroc Phone launches. When it does: Move your existing Canadian or US business number to Nysroc Phone from Phone > Bring your number. You get a temporary number right away. Moving a number usually takes a few business days; your carrier sets the date. Do not cancel your old phone service until we tell you the move is complete.
Go to: Open Bring your number (https://your-business.nysroc.com/phone/port)
> Coming soon. Number transfers open when Nysroc Phone launches.
Steps
- In your workspace open Phone > Bring your number (the account owner or an admin), enter your numbers, one per line, and press Check numbers. Canadian and US numbers can move; toll-free numbers follow a separate process (ask the assistant to open a phone ticket).
- Enter your current provider, the account number and the business or account holder name exactly as they appear on your bill, the service address exactly as on the bill, and the name of a person authorized on the account.
- Enter your port-out PIN or passcode. Ask your current provider for it if you don't have one. It is encrypted, never shown again, and Nysroc support never asks for it in chat or email.
- Add a 911 address for every number: the physical place where the phone is used (not a P.O. box). A number never goes live in Nysroc Phone until its 911 address is registered.
- Upload a recent bill (PDF, PNG, JPEG or HEIC, up to 10 MB). Every file is checked for safety before it is used.
- Sign the letter of authorization: type your full name exactly as the authorized name and tick the box. You can download the signed letter.
- Choose where calls ring (everyone, an extension, or forward to another number such as a mobile), then press Submit request. A temporary Nysroc number is assigned and rings right away, so you can keep working during the move.
- Follow the status on the same page and in your email: Submitted, Carrier review, Date confirmed, Complete (or Needs your attention, with what to fix).
While the move runs
- Do not cancel your current phone service until we email you that the move is complete. Cancelling early can release your number for good.
- Moving a number usually takes a few business days; your carrier sets the date. When your current provider confirms the date, we email it to you.
- You can cancel the request from the same page while it is open.
When it is complete
- Calls to your number ring in Nysroc Phone, the same way your temporary number did. You can now cancel your old phone service.
- Your temporary number keeps ringing for 30 days, then it is released. You can keep it as an extra line instead.
- If a 911 address could not be registered, the number waits and calls keep reaching you through the temporary number until you fix the 911 address.
Bringing your number is part of Nysroc Phone, included in the Advanced plan.
